Not every item appears in one document, and not every field is public. The JPSO letter form proves that a historical-stay channel exists, but the blank form does not promise that the returned letter will state the release reason or destination. Those details should be requested through the Public Records Center when they matter.
Jefferson Bond Release Status
Bond is unusually central to Jefferson Parish release research because JPCC holds a mainly pretrial population. The live roster can show a charge and bond amount, but an amount is not proof that it was paid. “No Bond Set” is also a point-in-time status, not a permanent court result. Court action, payment, processing, and every outside hold must align before a person physically leaves.
For a bond-based departure, record the CCN, arrest date, charge, and court shown in the source material. Then compare the bond or release minute with JPSO's actual custody record. Kenner Jail uses its own municipal channels and identifies exact-cash, bail-company, and card-payment options, but payment still does not establish that all legal holds cleared. Proof comes from the jail record and the court action together.

Jefferson Incarceration Letters
JPSO offers a specific civilian letter-of-incarceration form for an older stay. Jefferson Release Records Law
Louisiana Public Records Law is found in Title 44, including the definitions in R.S. 44:1 and the access framework in R.S. 44:31 through 44:35. - Match the case through the Jefferson Parish Clerk of Court and read the minutes, bond action, disposition, and later orders.
- Follow any transfer to DPS&C, another parish, BOP, USMS, or ICE through that authority's official channel.
Off the roster does not mean released home. A transfer ends JPSO custody while another agency may immediately continue confinement.
Jefferson Current Custody Search
The JPSO Online Inmate Search accepts Name, Race, Sex, Arrest Date, Inmate CCN, and Date of Birth. Results show the name, CCN, race, sex, date of birth, arrest date, charge, charge arrest date, and bond. The screen also prints a “Last Updated” time. It does not show release time, release reason, destination, disposition, historical status, or a booking photo.

Louisiana Release Status Search
Louisiana DPS&C routes its public “Locate a Person in Prison” function to Louisiana VINELink. A search can help locate a state or participating local custody record, but the reporting agency and exact status label control what the result means. A released or out-of-custody status applies to that reporting custodian. It does not rule out a new booking or another jurisdiction.
The Louisiana search screen shows the official statewide starting point for a name or ID search.
Compare the middle name, date of birth or age, ID number, and reporting agency before selecting a result. Save the retrieval time and copy the status and date labels exactly. If the result indicates release, obtain JPSO or DPS&C documentation for the actual type and destination.
VINELink is also the Louisiana Automated Victim Notification System, or LAVNS. It is distinct from the Louisiana Victim Outreach Program, known as LAVO. Registration in one is not registration in the other. LAVNS alerts are informational custody updates, while LAVO may provide additional state-prison notices to eligible registrants.
Jefferson Release Court Records
Jefferson Parish has more than one criminal court route. Felony matters generally proceed in the 24th Judicial District Court, while parish and municipal courts handle specified misdemeanor, traffic, and ordinance matters. Jefferson Post-Release Supervision
Parole and probation can corroborate that a person is in the community under conditions, but they do not mean the same thing. Parole normally follows release from prison before sentence completion. Probation is imposed by a court and may involve little or no prison time. A person can also finish custody with no supervision.
DPS&C Probation and Parole maintains Jefferson-area operations, including a district office in Kenner and local reentry and specialized projects. Those programs are not a general public release database. Jefferson Federal Release Paths
Federal custody requires a separate search. The BOP Inmate Locator covers many current and former federal prisoners. A former record may show “Released” or “Not in BOP custody” with a date, but that statement concerns BOP custody only. USMS manages federal pretrial and transported prisoners and can use local beds, so a JPCC disappearance can also mean a federal transfer.
ICE's Online Detainee Locator System is mainly a current-location tool. No result can reflect release, transfer, removal, recent processing, a data mismatch, or a nonpublic category. When an ICE detainer is involved, JPSO may truthfully record the end of parish custody while immigration custody begins at once. Ask JPSO for the destination and hold disposition, then contact the proper federal office or counsel.

Jefferson Jail Contact Conflict
Official sources present different JPCC contact details. JPSO lists 100 Dolhonde Street in Gretna with ZIP 70053 and telephone 504-736-6840. The DPS&C parish directory uses ZIP 70054 or a post-office box and lists 504-368-5360. This difference should not be silently erased, because it helps a caller understand which source supplied the number.
Use 504-736-6840 for the JPSO facility route and 504-363-5590 for Central Records. Verify the operational number before calling. Public office hours do not establish the times when people are physically released, and no supported release-exit schedule appears in the research.
Jefferson Release Facility Map
Jefferson Parish's map includes adult custody, youth custody, and a community-supervision office. Each requires its own release or status route.
